Wilder Ways Horse-Riding Holidays take you on a riding adventure through some of the remotest stretches of the Scottish ‘Wild West’. They are truly holidays with a difference. Our mantra is ‘empowerment through adventure’ and we believe that trust and confidence comes through positive exposure to new experiences, both for you and your horse.

Wilder Ways offers you an opportunity to take our experienced horses on an exhilarating journey. Whether you are an adventure seeker wanting a trip of a life-time, or are looking to get back into riding and build your confidence back up, we have an adventure to suit you. We offer all inclusive full week and short-breaks adventure holidays. All of our rides are tailored to ensure an appropriate level of challenge, tuition and enjoyment for every rider. Customers can even bring their own horse, either to adventure to the max, or to gain confidence from being part of our herd.

As well as wild riding out on the trail, we also offer opportunities for horseback archery, swimming with your horse and cross country jumping, so you really can try your hoof at anything. We like our horses to enjoy the holidays as much as our riders, so natural horsemanship is interwoven in all our holidays and different activities and we will fully support this to ensure you get the most out of the partnership with your steed.

By day you’ll be riding through breathtaking and varied scenery and experiencing fascinating local culture. You will stay overnight in our beautiful and restful farm, and feast each day on delicious home-cooked food made mostly from our own produce. The bedrooms are large and comfortable and you will have constant access to our beautiful glass room with a crackling log stove where you can eat, share pictures, watch the horses and just hang out.
We (Cara and Nikki) have been exploring on horseback for many years and Wilder Ways was born from our love of these excursions and a desire to bring you along with us. Our farm is at the very tip of the Kintyre Peninsula, a wide-open, remote landscape with heathery hills, rocky coast and sandy beaches. In June 2025, we will be returning to one of our wildest and craziest destinations, Knoydart in the West Highlands. Inaccessible except on foot or by boat, Knoydart is Britain’s last true wilderness and boasts some of the most stunning landscapes anywhere. Riding here gives such a sense of freedom it’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Wherever you join us, you will enjoy lots of time in the saddle and immersion in horse-life – including the wellies and the muck! Horse-welfare is exceptionally important to us and we have been consistently commended for our high standards. You will be encouraged to take part in their day-to-day care including any ongoing treatments and individual needs ‘your horse’ may have.

As well as magic and empowerment, one of our core values is to be environmentally responsible. The farms’ electricity comes from our bank of solar panels and our policies prioritise low waste, local and reusable options wherever possible. We even make our own soap!
Our holidays evolved from our love of horses and a desire to share that enthusiasm, empowering our guests to thrive outside their comfort zones. What we didn’t expect was that so many folk would become long-term friends and return year after year, to bask in the ambience of the farm and continue their horse-journeys with us.
