The AlignmentHORSE Difference
Unlock True Partnership – Where Horse and Rider are in Alignment
Imagine the kind of ride you’ve always wanted—your horse responds cognitively and willingly, his body carries you both with stability and ease, his mind is clear and connected, and every stride becomes an expression of harmony rather than struggle. At AlignmentHORSE, we make that a reality not just a dream.
Why the Usual Doesn’t Work
Training that relies on reaction or force, constraint or simple repetition may create compliance but it fails the deeper need: a new form of locomotion in which each movement is structurally sound and secure.
In nature and in most horse-training methods, the horse moves out of necessity and in reaction to a stimulus (running away from a tiger or moving away from pressure). The natural, instinctive way a horse changes direction is to momentarily tilt their thoracic cage and throw themselves away from danger.
This approach strains the structures of a domestic horse when they are required to maintain consistent and repeated circles. It also strains the rider who must micro-manage every step of the heavy horse with constant correction. The two bodies are out of alignment and suffering compensatory strain, stifling their potential.
A Different Path
AlignmentHORSE is built on a simple insight: if horses are continually damaged by regular training and commonplace equestrian activities, then there is something wrong with our methods. We need to change the way that we are asking the horse to use themselves. Liz VanRoss has discovered that it is possible for a horse to transform the way he moves so that he can engage in our activities safely.
All horse lovers know that the horse’s body is not a machine to be commanded—it’s a living, dynamic system deserving of understanding. AlignmentHORSE starts with science and the rules of anatomy. When we understand the rules, we can adapt the way we work. Then we can achieve our goals harmoniously and in alignment. The AlignmentHORSE approach guides horse and rider through a clear sequence of discovery and transformation.
How We Work
Ground first: We discuss with the horse a vocabulary of alignment before adding the complexity of the rider, teaching him to develop stability, balance, coordination and self-carriage.
Ridden integration: Once the horse understands his body, cognitive displacement and coordination, we bring in the rider. This conversation has a different centre of gravity. We synchronise human and equine movement in alignment, clarify the responsibilities of each party so that neither bears the mental or physical strain of taking on the entire burden.
Well-being meets performance: Whether your goal is pleasure riding, competition or rehabilitation, our approach removes the force, reduces the strain and raises the potential.
Universal relevance: From weekend rider to professional, from young horse to those in recovery, the AlignmentHORSE approach adapts to your situation while maintaining absolute clarity of structure and purpose. Respect for human and horse integrity is key to AlignmentHORSE, particularly regarding the rules of anatomy.
What Sets Us Apart
Because we ground every lesson in biomechanical truth, our riders work less, yet achieve more. We develop horses who know how to answer our questions rather than horses who are “trained” to react. Our students, human and horse, move together with integrity, clarity and joy. With over 30 years of worldwide experience, founder Liz VanRoss has built a legacy of transformations—real and consistent.
Real Voices, Real Change
“Liz’s approach is like finding the missing piece of a jigsaw puzzle … Finally, after all these years of having the lessons, going to the demos, the trainings, the clinics, reading the books, and seeing the greats, I can at last see a path to engage the horse’s ability to join with his human counterpart in finding, seeking and keeping alignment. Because without alignment there is no balance and without balance there never can be a functional equine partner for us to dance with.” — Naomi Underwood, BHS Accredited Professional Coach
That quote isn’t fluff—it’s proof that the shift is not only possible but profound.
Who This Is For
Riders who are frustrated, despite effort, with horses that still feel “off”.
Horses who are talented, yet under-performing, crooked, braced or blocked.
Professionals seeking to expand their understanding of anatomy, biomechanics and genuine partnership.
Riders who are in pain.
Owners who want more than “good enough”—they want their horse to thrive, mentally and physically.
What You’ll Experience
When you work with AlignmentHORSE, you’ll see:
- Movement that flows with ease, not effort.
- A back that is supple and buoyant, a hind-leg that engages with power, a shoulder that does not fall in or out but stays in alignment in both directions.
- A horse with two ‘good’ sides, not the old story of a horse that is supple one way but not the other but now a new story of symmetry in both directions.
- The rider no longer contorting to compensate for imbalances in the saddle. Rider’s hand and leg working with quiet clarity for precision. The comfort of an easy ride as the rider become part of the horse’s fluid architecture—not a separate force.
- A partnership built on trust, clarity and the joy of coordinated movement, rather than dominance or pressure.
Your Invitation
If you are ready to stop chasing results and start creating them; if you are ready to give your horse not just a better ride—but a better life—then let’s begin. At AlignmentHORSE, we don’t train for the sake of training. We develop for the sake of transformation.
Take the first step. Ask yourself:
“Is my horse moving with ease in alignment—or merely responding to my aids?”
If your answer is “there must be something better”—you’re right. And we’re ready to show you the way.
