Emily Massey
Emily is the owner and head coach of EJM Horseback Archery, based in the north of England. Founded 4 years ago, EJM Horseback Archery offers tuition for all levels, from total beginners up to international comptitors and everyone inbetween, with a focus on building solid and safe foundations in archery, riding and horsemanship at all times. Emily is the only HBA coach in the UK to hold both the British Horseback Archery Advanced Coach qualification, and certification with the Nemethy Academy in Hungary, one of the top Horseback Archery academies in Europe. Emily also holds coaching qualifications with the British Horse Society, and is a Level 2 Judge for the International Horseback Archery Association.
Emily’s competitive achievements showcase her experience at the highest levels of horseback archery, with notable placements such as a Bronze Medal in the 2023 World Cup, British Champion title in 2022, and multiple podium finishes in European Grand Prix and British Championships events. She is a seven-time GB Team member and has proudly represented Great Britain internationally. Her coaching is grounded in her own extensive training and international experience, which she brings to her students through clinics, private lessons, and tailored group sessions, supporting riders from beginners to advanced competitors.
Emily’s warm and professional coaching style makes her a standout in the horseback archery community, and her students appreciate the growth and confidence they gain under her guidance. Emily is also head coach at two British horseback Archery clubs; the Ribble Valley Mounted Archers & the Durham Mounted Archers. Whether you’re new to horseback archery or an aspiring competitor, Emily offers an enriching and adventurous journey through this exciting sport.
